We love pop contents page analysis

This is the contents page for the magazine 'We Love Pop'. The colours are mostly white, blue and yellow which is most likely to be the same colours as on the front cover. These colours make the writing and pictures stand out more as they are light colours.

This contents page has 15 pictures on the page alone which is quite a lot but they are advertising the posters that you will get with the magazine which is a big selling point because you don't just get the magazine you get the posters too.

The other pictures are advertising the main stories with the page numbers as well.
2 of the picture are of 'one direction, 2 of 'the wanted and 2 of JLS.

At the top of the page there is the title 'We Love This...' which is like the name of the magazine 'We Love Pop'.

'Inside this month' is also telling you what you get in the magazine.

On this contents page there are 2 puffs, one at the top left which says 'For your eyes only' which makes the magazine more personal to you as it says for YOUR eyes.

The other is at the bottom left which says hot posters, advertising the posters.

The 'for your eyes' only puff is yellow on a white background and the 'Hot posters' is in blue on a yellow background, so they are still sticking to the colour scheme. 

Mood board

This is a picture the mood board I put together. It has magazine front covers and mast heads that I am using for inspiration, so that I can come up with my own design for my magazine.
At the top of the board there and colours and shapes that I am thinking of using for the house style of the magazine. The shapes at the top are possible ideas for puffs and Box-outs.

Front Cover Analysis 2 (we love pop)

This is the front cover of the magazine 'WE LOVE POP'

In this issue the main story (the kicker) is 'Hot!Hot!Hot! Ariana, Niall and Tom take over' who are all singers apart from Tom Daley who is a Olympic diver . Ariana a singer and was also on Nickelodeons T.V programmes 'Victorious' and 'Sam and Kat'. Niall is a singer from the boy band 'One Direction'.

This magazine is targeted mostly at girls, as you can tell by the colour scheme, which is mostly pinks and purples and a little yellow. the background of the photo is white with makes the pictures, stories and colours stand out more. 

In the main picture all three of the stars are smiling and are dressed in bright clothing, and they all look clean. Ariana, Niall and tom are representing the magazine, showing it is fun and clean.

Also on the front cover there is a section on fashion 'What to wear this Autumn' which is all girls clothing so therefore this magazine is for girls.

The Magazine also has other smaller stories on people like Harry styles and Union J.

The Masthead is written is San-serif font, and the 'love' in the     masthead is a heart not a word.

Also underneath the mast head there is the strap line 'Don't bore us. Get to the chorus'.

The main cover line 'Hot!Hot!Hot! Ariana, Niall and Tom take over' stands out more because of the Box-outs. 

The words 'Hot!Hot!Hot!' Have white, pick, yellow box-outs behind the pink, white, pink writing. 'Ariana, Niall and Tom' is written in white with a purple circle behind it.
Also drawing us to the main story is quotation marks from the things the stars have been saying in the magazine. "I could never be a boy, Eww!"'Ariana' "I wash my own pants"'Niall' "I wear my speados on my head"'Tom' These make people want to buy the magazine because of the gossip inside.

At the bottom left hand side of the front cover there are 4 pictures of posters that will be in the magazine, so therefore this is as selling point as people will be getting posters as well as the magazine.

Another thing is that there are 11 picture on the front cover alone. This it the sam with a lot of the Pop magazines for example a 'Top of the pops' magazine I have seen has 12 pictures on the front.
At the top and the bottom of the cover there are banners. The one at the has a purple background  saying 'Union J This time its personal' 'Union J' is in white writing and 'This time its personal' is in yellow and both colours stand out on the purple background.
The banner at the bottom is yellow, with the writing 'New term spesh Shopping// Quizzes// Advice//' The 'New term spesh' is written in purple writing and the 'Shopping// Quizzes// Advice//' is written in black and purple which makes both stand out on the yellow background.

In the top left corner of the cover there is a yellow puff which says 'we love pop Awards 2013'

This magazine is 'Shout'. It is a magazine is aged around 14-18 years. 
In this issue the main story (the kicker) is on 'Little Mix', an all girls group from the X Factor.
This magazine is targeted mostly at girls, as you can tell by the colour scheme, which is mostly pinks and purples.
It also has a section on teen fashion which is all girls clothing so therefore this magazine is for girls.

 This is the 'kicker', which is the main story which stands out from the others. It uses different colours, like yellow and a bright pick, to stand out from the other stories. The text also stands out as 'A Little Mix' is written in block text.

This a freebie that came with the magazine. This is a major selling point as you are getting something free.

This freebie is make up and therefore this again, tells you that this magazine if for teens    

On nearly all the bar codes you see on the magazines have price written above them in a same place.

So far in media I have learnt how to use a apple mac, as I had never used one before. I have learnt how to eject a USB device safely and how to screen shot. I have come to grips with using photoshop as well.

I found the screen shooting quite easy, I found photoshop quite easy to use too once i got the hang of it.

I learnt how to use blogger, which wasn't as simple as I thought it would be.

I have learnt the rule of thirds, and how important it is to have a sharp image for the front cover of a magazine.

i have also learnt about shot types.

Contents Page

My contents page is only a draft, therefore it is pretty basic. I chosen to only put three picture on there because I don't want the page to look to crowded.

Not many people look at the contents page unless they are looking for something specific, therefore I don't have to make it too fancy.

If I was to do it again, I would improve by making it a little more colourful and eye catching but, it is only a contents page and is most of the time ignored.

Preliminary task: front cover

The colours that are on my front cover are blue and pink because they contrast so the catch peoples eye.

If I did this again, I would improve by putting more information on the front cover.
