Changes

I changed the colour scheme from what my TA want as I had a different image for my magazine, so instead of green and orange I have gone with blue and pink. Green and orange just weren't working with my magazine.
I also changed my model like I mentioned in a previous post I changed my model and my photo shoot turned out better, and so did my pictures.
The front cover I have posted previously I decided to change because I thought it didn't look professional.
I changed the pink to blue and I believe it looks a lot better now, I will post it when I have finished it.


I also changed my masthead again as it is a lot more colourful and eye-catching. The 'My' makes it more personal to the reader and because it is in blue it makes it stand out more to the 'PopWorld'.

My re-shoot

On tuesday I did the front cover picture re-shoot. It went well and I feel that becky was a lot more comfortable than Amber doing a pop magazine sort of shoot.

Yesterday I then did my DPS, contents page and other small photos for my magazine. This went well and my picture were 100 times better then the were before.

My pictures (problem)

none of the pictures I took of Amber were good enough for my magazine. As the deadline was for today to get our magazine front cover done I had to re-shoot- and fast!
I thought that one of the main reasons my photo shoot was very good was because I feel Amber wasn't comfortable with what she was doing.
I now used a different model, Becky.

This is the article for the 'Halloween Bash' which is my main story in the magazine which is on my DPS:

The Halloween Bash is a huge music festival in North Lincolnshire, with all the greatest and latest artists! The atmosphere is fantastic, with dancers, on stilts, fire breathers, stalls, spooky mazes, haunted houses and pop-stars and their fans dressed as vampires, monsters, witches, zombies and ghouls- Scary!

This year the bash is being headlined by the new pop star Becky, yes the rumours are true!
But, she wont be the only one at the bash, along with other stars like:

This will be on one half of my DPS. It will not be part of my Halloween bash bit but will be on the DPS:

Becky is a new uprising star from the UK, North Lincolnshire.
Found on the video-sharing website YouTube Becky has come a long way from her webcam and guitar, to London's O2 arena with a microphone, backing singers, dancers and lets not forget, her thousands of screaming fans!
Becky told our Popworld reporter in a interview:
"Most of the time I am just like everyone else, but when I have that mic in my hand im a Pop Star! Follow your dreams, I did and look where it got me!"

Photo shoot (How it went)

On Friday 15th, I did a photo shoot with Amber. Amber is my main model for my magazine. She will be on the front cover, contents and DPS (Double page spread) of my magazine.
I photographed amber in 4 different outfits, 1 outfit is for the front cover, another outfit is for the contents page and the other 2 outfits are for my DPS.
I have about 10 different pictures for my magazine so far but I need at least 5 more!
I am getting worried that I might not get them done so tomorrow I will be in media all day to get all of this work done ready  for the deadline!

Freebie Ideas

With my pop magazine I have decided that I will be giving a freebie away with every issue.

These are the ones I put on my survey for my target audience to choose which one they would have liked to come with my Halloween special addition:

My target audience chose the glow in the dark nail varnish as a freebie for this magazine, as I found out from the results from my survey.

About my photo shoot (thoughts and ideas)

I will be photographing Amber tomorrow (Friday 15th november). I will hopefully be getting the front cover, contents page and the DPS photos done. I will be doing the front cover and the contents page with the same hair, make-up and outfit, but for the DPS I have decided to put Amber in a halloween costume as I am doing a Halloween Bash and she, as my artist, will be headlining it. 

I need to get a lot more photos done as posters and advertisements for the other stories in the magazine. I am having difficulties trying to find models. So far I have only got 2 photos that I can use and I need about 10-15.

It is bright and eye catching which is what I want the outfit to be like for my magazine.

Hello, my name is Corey Johnson and I am here to tell you about the music magazine I have created called ‘Pop World’. I believe that my magazine would be best to be produced by your company because I have noticed that you only publish two music magazines ‘NME’ and ‘Uncut’. My music magazine is very different to magazines that you already publish, as it is a ‘Pop’ magazine, targeted at mostly girls’ aged 12-17, and the magazine you already publish ‘NME’ is an indie rock magazine and also ‘Uncut’ is a music magazine with older music in it and both magazines are targeted at older people.

I have seen that you do publish the magazine ‘Teen now’, which is targeted at teens but doesn’t really include much about music.

A unique selling point of my magazine is that I will be giving away free tickets to concerts and with every issue I there will be a freebie.

It owns and publishes more that 60 iconic media brands in multiple platforms, for example cross print, online, tablets, mobiles etc.

They engage with 26 million of the UK’S adults (nearly two thirds of women and 40% of men).

They reach over 25 million global users every month.

They own a lot of well-known brands like ‘NOW’ magazine, ‘Woman’s Weekly’ and ‘LOOK’.

I think this company would publish and distribute my magazine as they don't already have one that targets my audience profile. They don't have a magazine that is focused on music for teenagers. My magazine is targeted mainly at females and this company already has a good readership of women. They are also global and do online subscription which is something i want to be available for my magazine. I can also get some cross media promotions with their other magazines and it's possible that mother's buying Woman's Weekly may be encouraged to buy my magazine for their daughter.

I have decided that I will put a competition for the people that will buy and read my magazine to win a free beauty kit. This will be a hamper with make up, jewellery, body butters and moisturisers in it. My target audience are aged between 12-17 which is the age they are beginning to get interested in looking

PROBLEMS WITH WORDLE!

I tried to use wordle but it wasn't working and it kept crashing so I will try again another time.
It was a little disappointing because I would have like to get that posted today. The IT technicians have somehow blocked something to do with wordle or Java has to be updated. I will try at home but my computer at home isn't as good so I doubt very much that it will work.

In this issue the main story (the kicker) is 'I can really shock my parents- but will Justin's confessions shock you?' Justin Bieber who is a well know singer, is going to tell us how he can shock his parents. This will be the the DSP (double page spread)

The Masthead is written is San-serif font

Another thing is that there are 15 pictures on the front cover alone. This it the same with a lot of the Pop magazines for example a 'we love pop' magazine I have seen has 11 pictures on the front.

At the top and the bottom of the cover there are banners. The one at the top has a red background  saying 'quiz are you to truthful' is in black white writing.

The box at the bottom is orange and white which is full of the posters that you will get in the magazine, this is a major selling point as you wont only just be getting the magazine you will also be getting the poster too.

Contents page analysis for 'Shout'

This is the contents page for the magazine 'Bliss'. The colours are mostly white, pink and and lavender/grey colour which are most likely to be the same colours as on the front cover. These colours make the writing and pictures stand out more as they are light mostly colours.

This contents page has 7 pictures on the page.

One of the picture of 'Taylor' is advertising the taylor posters inside which is a big selling point as your not only getting the magazine you are also getting the posters.

These pictures are advertising stories int the magazine.

At the top of the page in big block capitals is the word 'CONTENTS' which draws the reader in as it is big, colourful and eye-catching. 

Underneath the bliss front cover pictures there is a puff which is advertising page 41 which has exclusive pictures on them.

Top of the pops contents page analysis

This is the contents page for the magazine 'Top of the pops'. The colours are mostly white, purple and a little blue which is most likely to be the same colours as on the front cover. These colours make the writing and pictures stand out more as they are light colours.

This contents page has 21 pictures on the page alone which is quite a lot but they are advertising the posters that you will get with the magazine which is a big selling point because you don't just get the magazine you get the posters too.

The other pictures are advertising the main stories with the page numbers as well and of 'Zoe' who is a women who tells the readers about the celebrities that she meets. A couple of the picture are on the fashion featured the the magazine.

At the top of the page in a speech bubble it says 'Inside your mag...' This make it more personal to the reader as instead of some like 'inside this mag...' it says YOUR mag.

On this contents page there are 1 puff, which is in black with blue and white writing, which stands out on the white and purple background. In the puff it says 'We love Boys'

This is advertising a section on boys, but this also tells me that this magazine is directed more for female audiences rather than male.
